Doctors Could Not Have a Medical License Until They Studied Astrology First!

Apr 19, 2017 | Astrology

In the modern-day, astrology and medical science are not the best of friends, and many physicians openly criticize astrology which they feel is not scientific. This, unfortunately, has given astrology a bad reputation in medical circles, even though the pronouncement is completely false and many doctors have simply never studied astrology and don’t understand its origins, principles, or uses. As such, they are quick to dismiss astrology as unscientific without having spent any time researching it at all. Imagine if astrologers made similar accusations about medical science without bothering to back up their claims! ( Astrology And Medicine)

This is very different however from other periods of history such as the Middle Ages when medical students would also have studied astrology at the same time as medicine. This is because at the time medical students believed in the strong link between medicine and astrology and understood that there was a relationship between the planets and how medical diagnosis could be made. Often treatment of illnesses or assessment of susceptibility to diseases was made as a result of consulting first with astrology. Read Your History…Very True!!

The founder of modern medicine was the Greek physician called Hippocrates who gave his name to the Hippocratic Oath that all doctors today must take. He is famous for having said, “He who does not understand astrology is not a doctor but a fool.” What is so interesting about this statement is that physicians continued to study astrology until as late as the 17th century in most of the Western world, and it is only after this that astrology was ridiculed and dismissed as unscientific. In many parts of the world such as India, doctors continue to use astrology when treating patients, although it should be noted that this is Vedic astrology and not Western astrology which is slightly different. But still, has the same results! Still, in many cultures outside the Western world medicine and the movements of the planets are still looked on with great importance and are still believed to be inextricably linked.

In ancient times people thought that the movements of celestial bodies influenced events on earth such as the tides and the weather. As a result, they also thought that there was a relationship between the planets and their influence on the body and susceptibility to illness. To demonstrate this link, each part of the body was connected to an astrological sign.

If we look at medical books from the medieval period many of them feature a drawing which is known as the ‘Zodiac Man’. This symbolizes a man with corresponding parts of his body linked to the different zodiac signs. The diagram was meant to act as a guide for physicians so that they could tailor their remedies and timings of treatment to the astrological signs with which the parts of the body were linked.

An example of this would be the way that Aries was linked to the head or the sign of Pisces was connected to the feet. As those born under the sign of Aries are born in March and April, these times would have been avoided if a physician wanted to treat a head issue in a patient.

Another way in which astrology was linked to medicine was through the practice of bloodletting which was also used a lot in ancient times. This was always done according to the position of the Moon. The reason for this was that if the Moon was traveling through a sign that was associated with the sick body part, then bloodletting would not be used as it was thought that the influence of the Moon would cause increased bleeding. This is still true today, FULL MOON!

How is modern astrology linked to medicine?

Obviously, in the modern world, we do not practice things such as bloodletting anymore, but there is still a strong link between astrology and medicine.

Let’s have a look at some of the ways that astrology can be linked to health…with the following planets in your natal chart~Transiting Planets can activate them! Did you know ~ that natal planets stay dormant until a transiting planet, new/full/solar/lunar eclipse pops them into our outer world!

Pluto in the Sixth House:

In astrology, the Sixth House rules health. The presence of the planet Pluto in this house, therefore, is very significant when it comes to our well-being. Just having Pluto in the Sixth House doesn’t mean that your health will be adversely affected, as much of this depends on the aspect. If Pluto is in a positive aspect it means that the person for whom the chart was erected will have strong powers of healing and will quickly feel better after an illness. It also shows that someone with this placement in their natal chart will have be strong physically and ill not succumb to illness easily in the first place.

If Pluto is in a negative aspect however then this means that the person’s health can be affected. Pluto rules the reproductive system and if Pluto is in a challenging aspect with Saturn, Uranus, or Mars,  then there is a risk of sexually transmitted diseases. There is also a risk or colon or bladder infections and hemorrhoids. With Pluto at a negative aspect in the Sixth House, there is also a risk of being bitten by snakes, ticks, spiders, or small animals which can carry diseases like rabies.

Anyone with Pluto in the Sixth House, regardless of the aspect, should be careful not to take on too much stress as this can easily transform itself into a serious illness. The best way of negating Pluto in the Sixth House, therefore, is to keep a positive attitude and to take care to manage stressful situations, which obviously can be easier said than done. It really is important to try however if you have this placement in your natal chart.

Saturn in the Sixth House:

Saturn rules chronic pain, so if it sits in the Sixth House then this can bring with it chronic diseases. Some of these may be psychosomatic and may be exacerbated by work or stress. Those with Saturn in the Sixth House may find that they have health problems at the same time as they are going through stress at work and this may be a common pattern throughout their life. Times, when these illnesses may be exacerbated, may also come when Mars or Uranus are square, opposite, or conjunct this natal Saturn placement.

The good news is that when transiting planets are in positive placements with the natal Saturn then health issues will calm down during this period. If Saturn has a positive aspect in a natal chart then it will give the person a lot of stamina and they will have a strong body capable of hard work, even if they may also suffer from minor chronic illnesses at the same time. Those with Saturn in the Sixth House in a positive aspect will also be capable of working long into their elderly years as their body will still be strong. Often people with this placement in their natal chart will not retire and will keep working for as long as possible, even if they do not need to continue to make money.

Conclusions:

One thing to remember about medical astrology is that it is not destiny but that it points towards susceptibility to certain parts of the body that may be affected by illness. This means that we are still responsible for our health and we should not take risks simply because we feel it is predestined that we will get sick. We have a great deal of personal responsibility for our health and we need to take care of ourselves to the best of our ability.
